My dinner rolls are very coase. What's wrong?

I need more information.  A copy of your recipe and any variations you are using, baking time, are you adding things not in the recipe or using something like wheat germ or bran in them. Is your water hard where you live? Are you letting them rise twice? Are you mixing by hand, machine? What kind of machine? Baking is a very precise thing.
