Question
I have been contacted by Datawedge RDS Software. What distinguishes Datadreamers from Datawedge?

Answer
Hey Kevin,

The differences are basic but important.

Some positives about Datawedge is they have phone support, their product has been around for years, they support dozens of services and have for a long time which leads me to believe they have a solid infrastructure and their product is customizable.  They also have a couple of features that Datadreamers do not.  One is group ordering which comes in handy if you set yourself up as a good corporate caterer.  There are a few other small features and reports that they have, but nothing that will actually bring you any extra sales, save you money or save you time.  the negative about Datawedge is that those phone support people cost money, and you will have to pay over twice as much per order than with Datadreamers.

The positives about Datadreamers is that it's also been around for about 10 years, it has over 100 customers that are happy, they have good security and infrastructure.  They also have 98% of the same features as Datawedge.  The two best things about DD is that it is cost effective and it is easier to use for both the manager as well as the client.  One of the most common comments that people (75% women) say on the site is "easy to use".  Those two things make the decision an easy one for me.

Don't get too caught up in the look and feel of these sites.  If you go to the www.mobilewaiters.com sites you will see that you can edit just about anything with both templates.

On the a more general note, I always tell my clients not to put too much time and effort into deciding which cash register they are going to buy, because if they don't build a good business model in the first place...it won't matter anyway.

Good Luck,
Mike Handy
