Question
I have a great idea I want to patent. I went through this company Patent Assistance Worldwide to help me. They said my idea is great an to continue they want $1279. Is this company legitimate? I can not find anything on them. I've even called lawyers but have not heard anything back yet. I do not like the fact I have not actually met with anyone face to face. I live in metro Detroit area, Do you know of anyone who can help me, an actual person?

Answer
They are not legitimate, based on what I have heard, in my opinion. Don't give them any money!
There is a Gerald R. Black, Esquire, in that area, I have known for 15 years or so, more or less. I think very highly of him. He is a legitimate patent practioner with world wide experience. Email me at patagent@evansville.net & I can give you his email address & probably his address & phone number. (or you can go to http://www.uspto.gov for a list of qualified practicioners, and he, as well as myself, are on that list.

Best wishes on your project.
