Copyright & Patents/General Question

Question
Hi Shannon,

I am not sure if you can answer this question, but am hoping you may at least direct me toward what type of lawyer I should look for.

I am an entrepreneur looking to market a product that was produced by someone else, that I will sell for a different purpose, but without altering the original product. This product has already been purchased, and discarded after being used for its original purpose. I will repackage and sell it for a second purpose.

I need to find out if there are any legal issues with marketing this product in a recycled fashion. With whom should I seek counsel?

Answer
Dear Lisa,

It sounds like you may want to speak either to an intellectual property attorney and/or a licensing agent. If you need an IP attorney referral, please let me know if you're in the US and if so, which state, and I'd be happy to provide you a name & a number.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

Warmest regards,
Shannon Moore
