Copyright & Patents/Verifying patent pending status

Question
Hello:

I have been offered manufacturing and marketing rights to a patent pending item (utility patent).  I have a copy of the application cover, number, filing date, etc., but have been unable to verify at the patent application or pending status at the U.S. patent office web site.

http://portal.uspto.gov/external/portal/pair
http://patft.uspto.gov/

How can I verify that patent pending status has been granted as the owner claims?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

Answer
Dear Joseph,

I'd be happy to do some digging for you. Please provide me the application number and/or the inventor's name.

You may also want to give Google's Patent Search Engine a try -- it's a bit easier to navigate than the USPTO's. http://www.google.com/advanced_patent_search

Hope that helps! Please let me know if I can assist you with anything else.

Warmest regards,
Shannon Moore
