Copyright & Patents/Question about syndicated content

Question
If I published an article on a website for free then it got syndicated by another site doesn't that mean that the other website is using my article on their website? Can I get paid for that? Can the other website take my article without my permission?

Answer
Dear Phoebe,

My apologies for the delay. I did not receive the original notification email.

A lot of it depends on the stipulations of the site where you originally published the article. For example, EzineArticles is an articles database. I've got a number of articles published there. By uploading my articles to EzineArticles I agreed that it is okay for publishers to take & upload my articles to their own site, provided I'm given proper credit.

I'd recommend reading the legal page of the original site. If that doesn't provide the details you need, I'd suggest contacting the site via email or phone.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

Warmest regards,
Shannon Moore
