Question
hello i am an aircraft mechanic and i have an idea for a toll that can be used in a number of industries along with aviation. i am new at this and would like to know what steps to take to make this idea a reality.

Answer
I have a web site with a lot of free information that might be of help. http://www.evansville.net/biz/patagent

I have a book review page with helpful texts you can get from your local free public library. "Patent It Yourself" by David Pressman is a good first read. It is not an easy read, but it covers a lot of good material.

I am better on hardware stuff, than something like a toll, assuming you mean toll as in collecting money such as for toll roads and toll bridges.

Stay away from the invention promoters. I have a link to the Ron Riley Scam Alert page, on my "Inventors Resources" page, that lists many of them. Some of the scammers even advertise on allexperts. I have flagged Allexperts on this, but they blame it on Google.

UPR, which is an outgrowth of Patent and Trademark Institute, is a good example of a newer name to avoid. You cannot rely  on Better Business Bureau to spot the scams. If you run across anyone that seems good at invention promoting, consult the link above to double check on them.

Hope that helps.

Best wishes on your project.
