Question
i have a few pictures that i found off of deviantart.comand i really want to show my friend on my yeearbook.com but i dont know if its copyrighted. i dont really want to have my account deleted because i didnt know its copyrighted. i have windows vista and i look on the propertys and it tells diffrent things, and it shows a little section that says copyright. and theres nothing by the copyright section, it just says add text. i dont know if its not copyrighted or not and i looked on the site where it came from and the person said that sh just wants to share the images to the world. and i read the copyright part that was at the botom for the whole site and it said most likly all images are copyrighted by someone.

Answer
Krystine,

By definition, the image created that you are using is copyrighted by someone.  If you did not create the image, then you are not the owner of the copyright.  The issue for you is do you have permission (a license) to use it from the owner.  If the Site specifically grants you that right, you are fine.  If it does not, ask for permission.

That is the safest way to proceed.  I hope this helps.

Kind regards,
