Question
Do inventions that help to prevent the spread of diseases that are spread through indirect contact (e.g. using someone else's mug) qualify for accelerated patent examination by the USPTO?

Answer
No.

Also, even if it were, I would not recommend a request for accelerated patent examination because in the fine print, the burden for researching the prior art usually falls on the applicant. That is one more potential problem area if a patent is awarded & then contested in court.

I  you want to check out other categories that qualify for accelerated examination, you might look up the Manual for Patent Examiner Procedures, at USPTO.gov and read them for yourself.
