Question
How does one study for the Patent Bar exam?  (Books, courses, web resources?)

Is there a Patent Agents' organization from which I can get information on demographics, private practice versus corporate comparison, compensation statistics and such?

Answer
Part One:  The way to pass the exam is to memorize the M.P.E.P.  All the questions come off it. Also, you can buy past exams. Once you sign up for it, I suspect you will get junk mail on seminars. The seminars are helpful, but outrageously expensive. You can buy the MPEP from the government printing office, or download it from the USPTO site.

Part Two:  No.

Additional info:  The big demand for patent agents is usually in the electrical, electronic, life science, computer science areas. Especially with advanced degrees.

If you are mechanical, there are virtually no opportunities for corporate or private practise employment, without considerable experience.

You might consider applying for work at the USPTO to get the experience while studying law at night.

I am mechanical, I developed my own practise. Love the work.

Hope that helps.
