AboutNeal Ziring Expertise Experienced user of versions 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and X3 mostly for
web page graphics, some photo retouching, some technical document
illustration. Right now I only have versions 12 and X3 available to me,
so I'll be best at answering questions about those.
Question If I save a file in another format (tiff or psd) from Painter 9.5 it looks flat.
Answer Heather,
There are a couple of possible reasons for this.
1. Painter may be using color management to adjust the internal
colors in the image to compensate for the color reproduction
of your monitor. The color management may make dim grays
brighter, adjust the balance of red/green/blue, and take other
actions to make the color appear more accurate or better while
you are working in Painter. When you save into another format
and view the image in other applications (e.g. save in Tiff and
view with Preview or web browser) then the un-compensated color
may appear flat.
2. Inside Painter, you might be editing using a CMYK color model,
but then when you save in Tiff or Psd you are using an RGB
color model. The conversion could make some colors appear
muted or affect contrast.
That is all I can think of right now. Hope this helps...
