AboutNeal Ziring Expertise Experienced user of versions 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and X3 mostly for
web page graphics, some photo retouching, some technical document
illustration. Right now I only have versions 12 and X3 available to me,
so I'll be best at answering questions about those.
Question I use Corel Photopaint for digital art, and in order to upload it to my web page on Deviantart, the photo must be JPEG or GIF. However, when I try to export my file as a JPEG, the only file types available are CPT, PSD, and TIFF. I was able to export as a JPEG yesterday, but today, and for at least two months before, the option was not available. If you could explain to me why this is, and/or how I can make the JPEG option available again, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Yes, I've seen this behavior before. Some versions of PhotoPaint
do it, and other versions don't.
What is going on here is the PhotoPaint is trying to protect you.
If your image has any structure that cannot be saved in a JPEG,
then it doesn't let you save it in JPEG. For example, if you
have multiple objects in the image, JPEG cannot handle them.
PSD, CPT, and TIFF can handle them, so PhotoPaint will allow you
to save in those format. Similarly, certain color models cannot
be handled by JPEG and GIF, so if your image uses one of those
color models, then PhotoPaint may not allow you to save in those
formats.
The best way to solve this issue is to save the file in CPT format,
then flatten it and change the color model, then save the
result in JPEG or GIF format. (In PhotoPaint 11 and 12, I think
flattening is called "Combine>All objects with background", and it
can be found under the Objects menu.)
Once the image is compatible with JPEG file format, the format will
be listed in the Save As.. dialog.
