About Neal Ziring
Expertise
Experienced user of versions 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and X3 mostly for web page graphics, some photo retouching, some technical document illustration. Right now I only have versions 12 and X3 available to me, so I'll be best at answering questions about those.

Corel Photo Paint - Corel Draw - Cloning tool

Question
Hi there, do you know why my cloning tool will not work in corel draw 14?

thank you
mandy

Answer
Mandy,

I'm sorry, but you haven't given me enough details.
There are lots of reasons why the clone tool might
not work.

1. You're trying to clone outside the current selection.
If you have any area selected, then all drawing tools
work only on the selection.  Choose Mask->None to
  clear the selection.

2. The clone brush size could be set too small.  If you
have a very small brush and a soft edge, then the
effect of the clone brush will be nearly invisible.
To fix, increase the brush size.

3. To use the clone brush, you must first select a
source location, then start brush strokes.  It is
possible (and pretty easy) to select an unusable
source area, and then the clone brush will do
  nothing.

4. The clone brush has transparency and compositing options
that are normally hidden.  Make sure that the Paint Mode
option is "Normal" and the transparency is "0%".

There are other, more difficult ways to mess up the clone
brush.  Without a more detailed description of the behavior
you're getting, I can't give any more specific advice.

Hope this helps...
