AboutNeal Ziring Expertise Experienced user of versions 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and X3 mostly for
web page graphics, some photo retouching, some technical document
illustration. Right now I only have versions 12 and X3 available to me,
so I'll be best at answering questions about those.
Question Normally the eraser tool shows the shape (round, square, etc.) on the screen as it's used, but I have somehow managed to have the rectangular shape of a chalkboard eraser, with little lines on one end, which makes it difficult to erase with precision.
How can I return it to the shape, as it has normally been?
This happened once before, and I thought that I had simply told it to restore the default settings.
However, this isn't working.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Answer Patric,
Yes, that is a feature of PhotoPaint. On slower machines, the
shape cursor can be very slow, so PhotoPaint allows you to set
the cursor to simply represent the tool (the eraser, in this case)
rather than the shape.
I don't know how you managed to change the cursor display type.
Perhaps somebody else was using your computer?
Anyway, to change it back, open the options panel with Tools->Options.
Then go to the Workspace--General area of the option tree.
In the panel, you'll see an item for "Cursor" or "Cursor Type".
Change it to "Shape", then click on the OK button.
Voila, the cursor should be back to a shape. In older versions
of PhotoPaint, you might need to exit the program and restart it
for the change to take effect.
