About Neal Ziring
Expertise
Experienced user of versions 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and X3 mostly for web page graphics, some photo retouching, some technical document illustration. Right now I only have versions 12 and X3 available to me, so I'll be best at answering questions about those.

Corel Photo Paint - Photopaint & windows vista

Expert: Neal Ziring - 7/5/2009

Question
I have Photopaint ver. 7.0 (I don't use it very much so an upgrade isn't necessary).  I installed the program on a new computer with Vista and the program does not run.  Is there a patch or something to get me going?

Answer
Stephen,

I'm afraid you're looking at an upgrade, or else switching
to a different editor.  PhotoPaint 7 will not run on Vista.
There is no patch or other workaround, it just doesn't run.
Sorry.  Only CorelDraw Suite X3 and X4 (13 and 14) are
certified to run on Vista, although some people have reported
success with PhotoPaint 12.

If you want to switch, the free editor named "The GIMP" is
very good, roughly equivalent to PhotoPaint 10 or 11.  You can
download it from here:
http://www.gimp.org/

As another alternative, Paint.net is considered quite good,
you can get it from here:
http://www.getpaint.net/

Sorry I don't have a happier answer for you...
