Corel Photo Paint/Corel Ventura

Question
I know this is not Photo Paint, but I need some help with Ventra.  V 8 installed on a new XP Pro system is very balky when opening an existing file.  Can you help at all?

Answer
Jay,

I haven't used Ventura in many years, so I'm not the
best person to ask.  Ventura is known to be very sensitive
to the drivers and printers installed on your machine, so
if you have a strange printer driver that might cause it
to have problems.  Also, Ventura requires a lot of memory,
so on a PC running XP with less than 1GB, it may be fighting
for memory with other applications and services on the
machine.

Also, Ventura 8 was not designed nor certified for XP.
It purportedly ran best on Windows 2000.  For XP, Corel
recommends Ventura 10.

You said that the program is balky when opening an
existing file.  Does that mean it can read and write files
that it saves without trouble?

Finally, have you updated Ventura 8 to service pack 2?
That supposedly fixed a lot of bugs, so you may get better
performance after the update.  You can obtain SP2 from

Sorry I can't help more.  This is way outside my area.
