Can you tell me the main names for off the shelf digital editing software?

There are many different digital video editing software
package.  Corel PhotoPaint is not really a good video
editing system; it is suitable for editing single frames
but doesn't do much for entire movies.

The main names in video editing are:

  - Adobe Premiere (Elements and CS3)
  - Apple Final Cut (Express and Pro)
  - Apple iMovie HD
  - Sonic Vegas Video
  - Pinnacle Studio
  - Ulead VideoStudio
  - Roxio Easy Media Creator
  - Microsoft Movie Maker
  - Avid Xpress Pro
 
There are many more, of course, these are just a few of
the market leaders in the consumer/pro market space.
(At the high end, for TV and movie studios, there are many
additional specialized products.)
