CorelDraw/Blending

Question
Hi Ran, hope all is well with you! It's me again with, yes! another quest?ion...
I am wanting to blend a bitmap into an object.  Specifically, I have a picture of a candle flame with a black background which I want to blend into a rectangle (filled with black) so as not to see the outline of the bitmap against the rectangle. I thought it might work to use BLEND to visually integrate the two, but that doesn't seem to work (or I don't know how to do it....). No matter how I try it I can still decerne the outline of the bitmap against the black background of the rectangle.  Have you any advice on the best way to achieve this without tracing the bitmap. I really don't want to do a trace- I want to flame to retain its true likeness in the image I'm trying to create.
I've also tried modifying the bitmap with PhotoPaint by creating a circular vignette with black, but you know after importing it to coreldraw there seems to be a difference in the black colors, even though their color space values in CMYK are the same.....can you help me with this one? I can send you the images if you like if it helps - Cheers Ran!

Answer
Hi Alice

I didn't think you could blend a bitmap like that. My Apply button is greyed out when I tried it!

If you have managed to get it to blend, how about duplicating your black background in Photopaint to try to sort out the mis-matched black, which I don't think there is yet an easy fix for unfortunately.

Good luck!

My main area of continuous expertise with CorelDraw involves setting press advertisements and I have rarely used it to produce complex drawings. However as director of a small company I have amassed a good deal of background knowledge of computers, various printers and networks over the years. When it comes to problem-solving, I have a long history of having nobody to ask but myself and, lately, the internet!
