Question
QUESTION: Hi,
I have saved a texture fill that I have modified in my schools computer, and now I would like to save the same texture fill to my own computer at home, how can I do this? Where do I find the texture fill file from the computer? Step-by-step instructions would be nice.

Sincerely Yours,
Kastanja

ANSWER: On my XP system running X4 the location is:

C:\Program Files\Corel\CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4\Custom Data\Textures

It may be different on your computer, but you didn't give me any information on it.

Proceed as follows:
Navigate to this folder in your Explorer window (or My Computer, etc)
Find the texture you want (e.g. bark.tif) and either Right-Click/Copy (and then Right-Click/Paste it somewhere) or drag it onto your pen-drive
Alternatively you could email it to yourself and then pick it up at home
Once you have copied the texture file into the relevant folder on your home system, CorelDraw should find it when the program loads.

I hope this helps, please let me know, thanks!

QUESTION: Hi again,
Okay, my school computer has Corel Draw 12, and the texture that I made by modifying the epidermis texture fill wasn't there (the location that Expert Ran said). It was saved by selecting a texture fill window and clicking + and naming the fill so it isn't standard. I have the file that I used the fill but when I click the object and try to see the information specifics of the texture fill it doesn't give me same information than in the computer that it was made in, I can't get the preview to look same in my computer with x4. Any ideas now? Oh, by the way my school has user areas which I did check as well but couldn't find a file with the same name, but it might all be under one name where all the modified fills or the like are. (I have Vista, school has XP, both have the C:\Program Files\Corel\CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4[school has: CorelDraw12..]\Custom Data\Textures path for the Corel)

Answer
I don't think these textures are saved as separate files at all. Your colour settings are saved as variables when you click the + and give it a name.

I would have thought your texture would be saved with the .cdr file and appear the same if you take the file to another computer. Presumably you could then open the Texture Fill box on the second computer and save the fill again on that system.

If this doesn't work I would write down the values of your chosen fill at school (Texture #, Softness, Density, Shade, Light, Brightness). Epidermis is a set of values from the "Biology2 2C" style in X4 - the style itself may be contained within the CorelDraw program rather than a separate file.

I use X4 myself and don't know if the same styles exist in 12 but providing you can find the Biology2 2C style on your home machine, and then enter the values from school, you should be able to recreate the same style - good luck!
