CorelDraw/Corel 14 Image Distorted by new HP Color LaserJet 1215
Expert: Ran - 12/6/2009
QuestionQUESTION: I'm using Corel 14 and I just switched from inkjet to hp color laserjet cp1215. I have color labels in Corel that are ganged up 8 on a page. Since I switched to laserjet the logo on each label is doubled in size but only half of it prints. The rest of the label prints fine. I do get a message from Corel that "the output doesn't fit on the media" but when I follow the suggestions, the problem is not fixed.
Thank you for your help.
ANSWER: Hi Vienna (what a fabulous, exotic name!)
There should be no problems switching between printers with CorelDraw, apart from slight misalignment of a millimetre or two here and there.
So it sounds to me like a problem with your printer driver not understanding something properly.
If you have the latest drivers installed from thr HP website and it still comes out wrong, I am guessing that you have scaled down the logos on your cards but not resampled them at the reduced size. So, select each logo and click "Resample Image" and see if this helps.

QUESTION: Thank you, Ran's pretty nice too. These labels were created for me a few years ago and I know how to print them and change the color and font and not much else. I haven't scaled any part of the label down at least not to my knowledge. I did read about rasterizing the entire page and that seemed to solve the problem when I selected it.
However, now I have another problem. My labels are in different colors and all of them seem to print fine except for the page of red ones. The color bleeds and streaks - sometimes I can get half a page of usable labels, sometimes none. Also it seems to make a bit of a mess in the machine which comes out on the back of two or three subsequent pages. Is there anything you know of I could do in Corel? Or maybe it's a defective cartridge/HP problem? Ok, thanks again.
AnswerOh no, a reply at almost 11pm Sunday night X! (I'm in the UK and of course we're on GMT here)
Well printers should produce identical results from identical pages, so it sounds like a printer issue and I would perhaps try another cartridge if you have one, but RED is a combination of yellow and magenta and I can't see them both being faulty at the same time.
This is an interesting problem, is there any chance you can scan the output page and email it to me at allexperts@nhbusiness.co.uk so I can take a look?
But I'm off to bed in a minute so I'll have to reply tomorrow, you're around GMT-6 I think!
