Answer
Hi Milan

I receive a lot of questions about the program running slowly and there is no easy answer because there could be many reasons - but it is unlikely to be CorelDraw's fault.

It sounds like you have already checked the usual things and defragmented your hard drive. 2GB should be enough memory.

Perhaps you could try to test the file on a friend's pc and see if it is slow there too.

1MB is very large for a CorelDraw file and I suspect it contains large photos, which I think CorelDraw was not really designed for. I would guess that the file size is the cause of your problem and unless you can reduce this by scaling down your pictures, I am starting to think your only solution will be a much faster PC.

Another thought I have had is to give your PC a spring-clean and install Windows again onto a formatted hard drive (preferably Windows 7, it is miles better than Vista). This will give your PC the best chance of dealing with your large files, as the system will be fresh.

My main area of continuous expertise with CorelDraw involves setting press advertisements and I have rarely used it to produce complex drawings. However as director of a small company I have amassed a good deal of background knowledge of computers, various printers and networks over the years. When it comes to problem-solving, I have a long history of having nobody to ask but myself and, lately, the internet!
