Question
I created graphic files using coreldraw 12 in windows 98
now have windows xp professional cannot open this files please help.. need these graphic files for my business

Answer
The operating system should make no difference to the way the file is saved. The files should still be safe after copying them onto your new PC. Still, something has happened, the question is what.

Can you tell me what happens when you try to open the file. What error message do you see? Is the situation identical for all of your files?

Do you have a colleague with CorelDraw who could try to open the file for you?

If you are stuck you could email your file to me (allexperts@nhbusiness-dot-co-dot-uk) and I will attempt to open and re-save the file. I use Draw 14 (X4) but I would save it in 12 format.

Expertise

My main area of continuous expertise with CorelDraw involves setting press advertisements and I have rarely used it to produce complex drawings. However as director of a small company I have amassed a good deal of background knowledge of computers, various printers and networks over the years. When it comes to problem-solving, I have a long history of having nobody to ask but myself and, lately, the internet!

My first printer was a Star LC10 Colour and I once paid £1745 for an HP Laserjet III.
