Question
QUESTION: The default CMYK color pallette will not display when set as the default.  All the other color pallets will display when set as the default.  It disappeared all of a sudden.  How do I get it to display again?

ANSWER: Hmmm, good question. This might be a time to reset your installation to default settings by holding down the F8 key while starting CorelDraw. I hope this works for you.

QUESTION: One more question please . . .  How can I remove a background in a .gif in Corel Draw?

ANSWER: Open the Bitmap Color Mask dialog on the Bitmaps menu. Make sure it says "Hide Colors" in the drop-down box.

Click the eyedropper and click the background colour in your .gif. Then click Apply. You can increase the tolerance if the colour varies slightly.

To hide more than one colour, click the next colour down (black) and repeat the steps above.

I apologise if the correct spelling of the word Colour confuses you, ha!

QUESTION: I don't think I explained my self correctly.  I want to make the background transparent.  I tried what you mentioned and it did not make it transparent.  Thanks for your help!

Answer
The above does leave a transparent hole when you hide a colour. Have another go! Make sure the .gif is actually selected before you click the eyedropper. Put a temporary coloured square behind your .gif.

Ah, and you need to check the box in the colour list, next to the colour you want to hide.

Expertise

My main area of continuous expertise with CorelDraw involves setting press advertisements and I have rarely used it to produce complex drawings. However as director of a small company I have amassed a good deal of background knowledge of computers, various printers and networks over the years. When it comes to problem-solving, I have a long history of having nobody to ask but myself and, lately, the internet!
