CorelDraw/blank file

Question
Corel Draw 12.  I am really frustrated because I am designing in Corel and keep losing my file after I have saved it.  When I click to open the file, the file memory, thumbnail appears, but the file opens blank.  I just saved a 120 page document that is showing up as 1 blank page.  Is there any way to recover this document.  Please help fast.

Answer
Hello Hesta

Perhaps your drawing layer (normally Layer 1) has been turned off. My answer refers to the menus of CorelDraw X4. Open the Object Manager with Window/Dockers/Object Manager. At the top are three square buttons: only the first one should be pressed down.

Most or all of your objects will be under the layer called Layer 1 and if they are still present in CorelDraw's database you will see them in a long list. To the left of the line which says Layer 1 are some symbols. One of these symbols is an eye. Click the eye to close it (and Layer 1 will vanish). Click the eye again to open it (and Layer 1 will appear again).

I don't know what else to suggest, apart from removing CorelDraw from your PC, then rebooting and reinstalling again.

I hope this solves your problem - please let me know!

My main area of continuous expertise with CorelDraw involves setting press advertisements and I have rarely used it to produce complex drawings. However as director of a small company I have amassed a good deal of background knowledge of computers, various printers and networks over the years. When it comes to problem-solving, I have a long history of having nobody to ask but myself and, lately, the internet!
