Question
I have a logo our advertisers sent us and it is attached to a white background. I'm trying to seperate the actual logo and the white attachment some is text and some is an image.

Answer
Hi Jessica

.jpg files are flat images and can't be "attached to a white background". I am not criticizing here but just to be sure we are both talking about the same thing!

The image editing tools in CorelDraw are rudimentary to say the least. I would quickly do what you ask in Photoshop and then pull the finished  image into CorelDraw.

All image files are rectangular, you can't have an odd-shaped (e.g. round) image although you can get the effect of an odd-shaped image by making the outside of your logo transparent. Only .gif (and .png) files support transparency though, not .jpgs. However it is problematic placing odd-shaped items with transparency onto CorelDraw drawings, because the edges never look right.

I would possibly suggest modifying your layout so that your background is white and you can drop the file in place without modification.

Or you might enjoy CorelDraw's Bitmap Color Mask: Bitmaps/Bitmap Color Mask. Zoom in on your image and click Hide Colors in the docker window. Now click the eyedropper then click on the white area in your logo and click Apply. Slightly increase the Tolerance and click apply again until you get the effect you want (or you might not, as I said it's rudimentary!). If you want to start over, click the bin.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

Expertise

My main area of continuous expertise with CorelDraw involves setting press advertisements and I have rarely used it to produce complex drawings. However as director of a small company I have amassed a good deal of background knowledge of computers, various printers and networks over the years. When it comes to problem-solving, I have a long history of having nobody to ask but myself and, lately, the internet!
