Question
QUESTION: How to remove the white background of a .pdf or psd file in coreldrawX4?
Everytime i use the image the white backgrounds comes in front .
pls help.

ANSWER: Hi Deepti

When a .pdf file is imported into CorelDraw X4 its components are in a group. If you ungroup the imported .pdf with Ctrl+U you should be able to edit the parts of the file however you want. You should be able to select and delete your white background.

Sometimes a .pdf will contain a bitmap, not vectors. In this case you will struggle to remove any background in CorelDraw and I would suggest using an image editor instead (e.g. PhotoPaint or Photoshop). However this would be time-consuming and quality would suffer therefore it would be desirable to get the .pdf made again containing editable vectors.

Kind regards

QUESTION: I have tried ungrouping it bt the option doesnt come,to ungroup it first i have to quick trace it,and the problem here is the actual image gets distorted fully. Is there any other way out in corel to remove white square background.

thnx

Answer
Hi again

I don't know what your .pdf contains but it's very unlikely you'll get the results you want by tracing it.

It sounds like there might be something strange about the .pdf file itself, do you know which program created it (press Ctrl+D while in Adobe Acrobat or Reader)?

If you want, I will take a look at the .pdf for you, send it to allexperts@nhbusiness.co.uk

Expertise

My main area of continuous expertise with CorelDraw involves setting press advertisements and I have rarely used it to produce complex drawings. However as director of a small company I have amassed a good deal of background knowledge of computers, various printers and networks over the years. When it comes to problem-solving, I have a long history of having nobody to ask but myself and, lately, the internet!
