Answer
Hi Manish

I do not know what method CorelDraw uses to display its output or whether it can use your new graphics card at all. I am guessing that CorelDraw gets the CPU to do all the graphics work and then the graphics card just displays the output - therefore the fastest graphics card in the world will probably make no difference to CorelDraw's performance.

It sounds like you are working with extremely large files because they take a while to open and close. Many people get huge file sizes because they are working with photographs. To speed up your machine, after importing large photos and resizing them to the size you want, always resample to the resolution you need. 300dpi IS ENOUGH, 600dpi is too much and 1200dpi is just ridiculous! The resampling will reduce the image size in your .cdr file and therefore place fewer demands on your system.

32-bit Windows can use a maximum of about 3.5GB of RAM. So make sure you have 3GB or 4GB installed, it is so cheap nowadays. And the faster your processor, the better.

Expertise

My main area of continuous expertise with CorelDraw involves setting press advertisements and I have rarely used it to produce complex drawings. However as director of a small company I have amassed a good deal of background knowledge of computers, various printers and networks over the years. When it comes to problem-solving, I have a long history of having nobody to ask but myself and, lately, the internet!
