Answer
Hi Mat

Your question is in the CorelDraw section and this is my field of experience. However CorelDraw is very much a 2D designer and not the program I would use in your shoes.

I have read about a number of other programs which would seem to be much better at producing the 3D wrap effect that you want, some of which have been included on cover discs of my PC Pro magazine in the past. I would imagine that the first design will take absolutely ages even to get the bare tankard to look right, but once it's done you can of course copy it for all of your future designs.

However I can't remember any names right now, which isn't much help! I'll come back to you in a couple of days after I've flipped through a few back issues at home.

Hi again, I found the software I had in mind - it is called Hexagon from a company called DAZ3D (from PC Pro Feb09, issue 172). Alas the cover disc itself is nowhere to be found but I guess you could find it with a spot of research! They produce other products too, perhaps you can find something even more suitable - good luck!

Expertise

My main area of continuous expertise with CorelDraw involves setting press advertisements and I have rarely used it to produce complex drawings. However as director of a small company I have amassed a good deal of background knowledge of computers, various printers and networks over the years. When it comes to problem-solving, I have a long history of having nobody to ask but myself and, lately, the internet!
