Dear Sir,
I am working as a Graphic designer in a Memento production firm. When I open a corel files it takes 5-10 minutes. No graphical image or any effect. only line art. please suggestion

Answer
It is impossible to diagnose a problem such as this with no information about your PC, your OS, or your CorelDraw version (Mac/Windows etc).

Long delays can be caused when an OLE object in a drawing no longer exists, for example a file over a network has been removed. But you say you have line art only. It is possible that something exists in this drawing which you can not see on the screen. Look carefully through the properties (File/Document Properties) to see if there is anything suspicious in the list. You can find more detail in the Object Manager (Window/Dockers/Object Manager) and as you click on each item it will be selected on the screen.

If you re-print this drawing several times I presume you save it under a different name each time and in fact this might be a fairly old document. You could also try to copy the visible file objects into a blank file and try saving-and-opening the new file.

Or, perhaps you have a slow PC with inadequate memory - I would recommend 1GB RAM as a minimum for XP, 2GB for Vista and 4GB for Windows 7.

Please let us know how you get on - thank you.

Expertise

My main area of continuous expertise with CorelDraw involves setting press advertisements and I have rarely used it to produce complex drawings. However as director of a small company I have amassed a good deal of background knowledge of computers, various printers and networks over the years. When it comes to problem-solving, I have a long history of having nobody to ask but myself and, lately, the internet!

My first printer was a Star LC10 Colour and I once paid £1745 for an HP Laserjet III.
