ANSWER: Hi Kathy

This type of thing would take me hours to explain - perhaps I could direct you here:

There are lots of others on this site which are quite interesting!

CorelDraw has something called a mesh fill, which isn't quick to use but can give very smooth results. It might be worth creating a new palette of colors for your drawing, it makes it much faster to select them when the ones you want are isolated in a list.

QUESTION: Thanks so much Ran.  So, I use my brezier tool to outline the different areas of fading and then use my interactive tool to fade to desired color.

Answer
Have a play with the Mesh tool, and note that you can alter the resolution of the mesh from the toolbar - then drag/drop colors into the cells from the palette. Easier if you float the palette up to the side of your mesh for speed.

Have you considered Bitmaps/Outline Trace/Detailed Logo? (tweak settings in the dialog to get the result you want). This is a very fast way to produce a .cdr when an image has been supplied.

Expertise

My main area of continuous expertise with CorelDraw involves setting press advertisements and I have rarely used it to produce complex drawings. However as director of a small company I have amassed a good deal of background knowledge of computers, various printers and networks over the years. When it comes to problem-solving, I have a long history of having nobody to ask but myself and, lately, the internet!

My first printer was a Star LC10 Colour and I once paid £1745 for an HP Laserjet III.
