Answer
I can vaguely remember the Corel Media Indexer but I never knew what it did and I'm sure you can live without it, if you can figure out how to disable it. It was possibly something to do with the vast libraries of dodgy clipart which shipped with CorelDraw back then, but whatever, I'm fairly certain is it a non-essential component.

Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services and find the Corel Media Indexer in the list. Right-click/Stop and then Right-click/Properties and choose Disabled under Startup. You have now stopped the service and prevented it from running automatically in the future.

I doubt if this will fix any printing issues but I would need some more details in order to make any suggestions on that topic.

By the way, I have switched from 8 to X4 about a year ago and was pleased to find it is basically identical and I could use it immediately. However many of the things which simply do not work in 8 have now been sorted out; for example .pdf support, which has become the industry standard if you ever create anything for print.

Expertise

My main area of continuous expertise with CorelDraw involves setting press advertisements and I have rarely used it to produce complex drawings. However as director of a small company I have amassed a good deal of background knowledge of computers, various printers and networks over the years. When it comes to problem-solving, I have a long history of having nobody to ask but myself and, lately, the internet!
