CorelDraw/missing font in printer dialog box

Question
when i try to print something from coreldraw8, i can see everything fine when i first open the main printer dialog box. but when i click on "properties", i get only a series of skinny black boxes instead of the words that specify the different options. when i do the same in msword, the wording in the properties box appears fine. i'm using an hp inkjet v series printer and winxp, media center edition. am i missing a font?

Answer
Hi Mark

Something has mucked up for sure, but I'm not able to say what! I believe the Print properties box might invoke either a part of your printer driver software or possibly a part of the Windows OS (possibly from comdlg32.dll, a 'common dialog' library). Working successfully from Word seems to point toward a CorelDraw problem, although you could remove/reinstall CorelDraw in 10 minutes to eliminate this as a possibility, which I presume you have already tried.

I doubt if it's a missing font to be honest, since the dialog font is common to numerous other dialogs and you would therefore notice problems all over the place.

Have a scan at the below thread and see if there's anything here which helps you:

My main area of continuous expertise with CorelDraw involves setting press advertisements and I have rarely used it to produce complex drawings. However as director of a small company I have amassed a good deal of background knowledge of computers, various printers and networks over the years. When it comes to problem-solving, I have a long history of having nobody to ask but myself and, lately, the internet!
