Hi I'm in the same spot. the new law means no more permanent tourist. it also means my lady and I cannot get married. It means two renewals of your visa. Only two....... it means the government will now take a % of your income to be permanent. Basically it means.....they are cutting down on the number of foreigners in the country for longer than 6 months.  Check it out on the Costa Rican Immigration web site and see for yourself.
