Costa Rica/Internet Access

Hola! Tucker!

Howz internet access?  How common is wi-fi?   How popular are smart phones (does it make sense to have an iPhone if I relocate there?)

Mucho Gracias!

Good internet access even in smaller towns like Fortuna, Jaco, etc. 4LTE pretty common.  Three carriers... ICE (government operated phone co.), CLARO and MOVISTAR -- ICE has broadest coverage but some remote areas have better CLARO or MOVISTAR.  Easy to buy prepaid SIM cards... only size available is the original large SIM, so cell phones with mini-sims do require card cutting (if buying from a cell phone store they will cut for you; if buying at the airport then possibly not).
Be SURE you have an UNLOCKED cell phone if you intend to use Cost Rica SIM. If using your AT&T, Sprint etc. phone the roaming charges are very costly.
