Question
Hi,

About 6 years ago when my wife and I were still dating, we got pregnant and it was not planned. My wife took a test and when she told me, I was really happy. Unfortunately, we were still in school and she felt it was not the right time to have a child and we had the abortion. I tried to say something, but I thought it was her decision to make. A couple of years ago we had another child and went through the pregnancy. one night I tried to bring up the topic to see if she ever thought about it but she didn't want to talk about it. The problem is that I can't stop thinking about what could have been. Every day for the past 6 years I thought about it at least once and even more so now that we're pregnant again. I don't have anyone I feel I can talk to. I think I made a huge mistake not saying anything when my wife got the abortion. I think about it so much I feel like I'm going crazy and I just go and do some errands to keep my mind off it. I just keep thinking that I should have 2 kids not 1 and what would it be like. I can't imagine life without my daughter now, so what I am missing with what could have been keeps bothering me. I want to stop thinking about that. What do I need to do?

Answer
Hi Raul,

What you're feeling is a very common reaction of men after an abortion. I'm going to recommend you spend some time on these web sites that offer help to men in your situation.

http://www.lifeissues.org/ Click on the link Men & Abortion

I hope you will find these resources helpful,
Pam
