Question
I've got two songs that I just can't figure the name and artist of. The fist has the lyrics "you ain't live till you've got scars" and also "a bucking Brahma bull nearly stomped me right in half". The second song has the lyrics "Please don't throw me in the briar patch...what ever you do don't send me back to that awful place where the beers ice cold, where the women are wild and the good times roll". Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, JR

Answer
Hello JR,

I don't recognise the second one, but I'm still searching for it. The first one is a Ray Kennedy song from 1991 called "Scars"....

Right through the wing of his eagle tattoo
Jake pointed out where the bullet passed through
Pete said, "That ain't nothin," as he pulled off his hat
"It took fifty-seven stitches to put my hairline back"
Red rolled up his shirt and laughed, said, "Boy's, I'll top that"
Showed them where a bucking brama bull nearly stomped him right in half

Scars, everyone's got a story
A tall tale of glory
A flesh and blood reminder
Of how fragile we are

The stranger he just sat there till the last one was through
And old Carter said, "Hey buddy! How about you?"
His lips began to tremble and a tear run from his eye
As told about the woman who destroyed his life
"The worst wound in the whole wide world never leaves a mark
'Cause all I have's a hole where I used to have a heart"

Scars, everyones got a story
A different tale of glory
You ain't lived till you've got scars
You ain't loved till you've got scars

Glad to be of help. Cheers.......Mel.

Expertise

I have been hooked on Country music since first hearing Jim Reeves in the late 50s. Two of the greatest nights of my life were seeing The Mavericks and Reba McEntire live in London. I am more at home with traditional Country music, but am happy to try and help with any questions relating to songs up to 2000. Please note that I DO NOT have the same knowledge about country music videos or singers private lives.
