Question
I am looking for the artist and song title of a song written by an older country singer who wrote a song for his daughter on her wedding day.  He was interviewed on Oprah on one occasion and sang the song.  I thought the title was Forever but now I'm having second thoughts.  It could have bee "On your wedding day" or something to that affect.  He was speaking to his daughter through the lyrics.  Any help would be greatly appreciated as my daughter is getting married on the 1st of November and would like that song to be sung at her wedding.  I would need the artist and song title if you can be of any help.

Answer
I'm not sure if this is the song you're looking for, but Lionel Ritchie did sing "Truly" on Oprah, although he's not considered country.  I did locate a song titled "On Your Wedding Day."
It is by Antoine Williams.

On your wedding day
may your hearts be filled with joy
you've been waiting for so long
and now the time has come
may you both keep the faith
on your wedding day

There will be times, when troubles will come
and there may be times when you be upset
but how many know
that the Lord he will supply, all of your needs
so sing a perfect harmony
on your wedding day

I come to you and say, keep the faith in the Lord, cause the enemy may come
and he will try to knock you down
for weeping may endure for night
but joy will come in the morning light
just go down on your knees and pray
on your wedding day

I come to you and say, keep the faith in the Lord
cause the enemy may come
and he want to steal your joy
but you can do all things through Christ
whom strenghtens you, for I know it's true
just go down on your knees and pray
on your wedding day

(ROUND)
On your wedding day
may you keep the faith forever more
On your wedding day.
may you're life be filled with joy
and your heart be filled with praise
God will come and stand by you
just keep the faith in all you do
On your wedding day.

I can usually locate song by artist, excerpts and even circa around when the song was released in country, rock and other genres. ****** PLEASE do not ask me about videos. I do not watch them.******** I've been singing since I started talking, singing in public since I was 7. Still at it at 56. I have an extensive repertoire as well as lots of music. I also actively research for other people, including local djs, music that no one else can find, especially being given just paraphrased lines of songs. I'm the one @ karaoke that usually gets asked, "Who did this song?" or "Do you know a song that goes" and if it's country, I usually can name the song and artist, sometimes give within a couple of years the year of release. I've got a lot of lyrics in my database, as well as friends with working musicians who do open mic jams who have even more extensive databases than I do.

I've been singing almost 50 years (next year will be anniversary). I've played in bands (country/country crossover, rock and roll and bluegrass). I've worked sound for quite a few folks whose names are easily recognizable. I've got an extensive database of music, not just country. I've
