Question
I'm trying to find the name of the song or artist that did a country song released between 1986 - 1989.  It played on Y106 out of Atlanta all the time and the guy singing sounded a bit like Kenny Rodgers.
The part of the song I remember goes like this:

notes:  B    G#     B    G#    B    G#    C#
lyrics "but  once   in   a    blu...ue   moon (pause)

notes:  F#     F#    D#      C#      B
lyrics: "I     do    some....thing   right"

Thanks!

Answer
This song should have been very easy for you to locate, since you gave the title in the first line.  (Would be a good thing to check on search engines first before requesting someone else to take time away from other hard searches or even impossible searches to locate one that is a very well known country song.)

The song is "Once in a Blue Moon" by Earl Thomas Conley

I also actively research for other people, including local djs, music that no one else can find, especially being given just paraphrased lines of songs. I'm the one @ karaoke that usually gets asked, "Who did this song?" or "Do you know a song that goes" and if it's country, I usually can name the song and artist, sometimes give within a couple of years the year of release. I've got a lot of lyrics in my database, as well as friends with working musicians who do open mic jams who have even more extensive databases than I do.
