This may be a difficult question. I'm not sure of the name or artist. We thought the name was Awards but not sure Here are some of the lyrics:

That song was co-written and recorded by Wayne Kemp. It was called "Award To An Angel" and appeared on his 1971 album titled "Wayne Kemp".
