Question
There was a song out in the late 70's , after 1975, by a female artist, some of the lyrics are as follows.  Take my breath away and leave me breathless helpless and weak, as you smother me with kisses til my lips no longer speak.  Who sang this song and what is the title.  Thank you clh

Answer
Hello Haley,

That was "Take My Breath Away" by Margo Smith back in 1976.

I've been waitin', waitin' so long
For you to bring your love, where it belongs
Lord knows I've prayed,
Your body lying, in my arms

Now at last, you're next to me
About to give love, tenderly
And all I can say
Is baby, take my breath away

Take my breath away
And leave me breathless, helpless and weak
As you smother me with kisses
Till my lips no longer speak

And if I die, at least I'll have known
The true meaning of ecstasy
So go ahead
And take the breath right out of me

(Instrumental)

Take my breath away
And leave me breathless, helpless and weak
As you smother me with kisses
Till my lips no longer speak

(Spoken:)
(And you know something baby)
(If I was to die)
(There's one thing I'd know for sure)
(That we knew the meaning of ecstacy)

So go ahead
And take the breath right out of me

Glad to be of help. Cheers..........Mel.

Expertise

I have been hooked on Country music since first hearing Jim Reeves in the late 50s. Two of the greatest nights of my life were seeing The Mavericks and Reba McEntire live in London. I am more at home with traditional Country music, but am happy to try and help with any questions relating to songs up to 2000. Please note that I DO NOT have the same knowledge about country music videos or singers private lives.
