Question
There was a country song titled "When Michael Calls" in the late sixities or early 70's.  Do you know who recorded it.  I thought it was Jesse Colter but haven't been able to find it.

Answer
Hello Sandy,

"When Michael Calls" was written and recorded by Sammi Smith in 1970.

When Michael calls
And Michael will
His new love ain't new anymore
Just tell him I don't live here
I ain't been here
And I won't be here anymore

When Michael calls
And Michael will
The way he's always done before
Just tell him I don't live here
I ain't been here
And I won't be here anymore

I'm gonna find myself a brand new road for walkin'
And I'm gonna find somebody else to do my walkin' with
And talkin' to

So when Michael calls
And Michael will
If things don't go his way
Just tell him I don't live here
I ain't been here
And I won't be here anymore

Just tell him I don't live here
I ain't been here
And I won't love here anymore

Expertise

I have been hooked on Country music since first hearing Jim Reeves in the late 50s. Two of the greatest nights of my life were seeing The Mavericks and Reba McEntire live in London. I am more at home with traditional Country music, but am happy to try and help with any questions relating to songs up to 2000. Please note that I DO NOT have the same knowledge about country music videos or singers private lives.
