Question
About ten years ago, I used to frequent a tavern that had a recording of this song song by Hank Williams, Jr. on the juke
box.  No kidding and for real.  That's why I went to that tavern.  They dropped after a year or so, and I have not been
able to find anywhere where Hank Jr. ever recorded the song. Believe, it was Hank jr. on that juke box with this song.  Can you provide any information about what might have happened or where I could findd this recording?  Thank you
in advance.  bob

Answer
Hello Bob,

This song was a hit for Stoney Edwards back in 1973. The song was also recorded by Moe Bandy in 1982, and it may be that version that you remember hearing on the jukebox.

Daddy had a 1941 Ford and I was just bout ten years old
We used listen to Hank and Lefty on the radio
"Why Don't You Love Me Like You Used To Do"
And "Just Look What Thoughts Can Do"
Ol' Hank and Lefty raised my country soul

I learned how to sing and shuffle my shoes
Listenin' to Hank sing the "Lovesick Blues"
We never met ol' Hank, but we was awful close
Cut my teeth on "Always Late" and "I Love You A Thousand Ways"
Ol' Hank and Lefty raised my country soul

(Instrumental Break)

Daddy said the hair on his neck would crawl
When Hank sang about the light he saw
Ol' Hank sure put a lot of heart in the songs he wrote
Everytime daddy got a little bit tired
"Mom And Dad's Waltz" would make him cry
Ol' Hank and Lefty raised my country soul

I learned how to sing and shuffle my shoes
Listenin' to Hank sing "Lovesick Blues"
We never met ol' Hank but we was awful close
I cut my teeth on "Always Late" and "I Love You A Thousand Ways"
Ol' Hank and Lefty raised my country soul

Expertise

I have been hooked on Country music since first hearing Jim Reeves in the late 50s. Two of the greatest nights of my life were seeing The Mavericks and Reba McEntire live in London. I am more at home with traditional Country music, but am happy to try and help with any questions relating to songs up to 2000. Please note that I DO NOT have the same knowledge about country music videos or singers private lives.
