Country Music/Homer and Jethro

Question
Hi Mel,
In the early to mid 50s, I had a 45 of Homer and Jethro that was a straight chorale and strings.
Title:
Just Come Home.
The lyrics as I remember are;

I don't care how far you wander
Let your heart be(go?)wild and free
If you want my prayers all answered
Just come home my love, to me.

I think it was RCA.
I was only 10-12 yrs old, but it 'spoke' to me.

Every so often I'll Google to try and find some reference, but I have never been able to find anything about this song which I remember so clearly.
Have you ever heard this song, or heard about it?  Anything you can tell me is appreciated. Thank you.

Answer
Hello Gregg,

I think you must be confusing your Hugos with your Homers. "Just Come Home" was a 1959 Top 40 entry for RCA production duo Hugo & Luigi, which featured The Cascading Voices of the Hugo and Luigi Chorus. I can't find any any information pointing to this song ever having been recorded by Homer & Jethro.

I don`t care how far you wander
Let your heart be wild and free
I`ll be asking you no questions
Just come home my love to me

Fly away across the mountains
Sail away beyond the sea
If you`re searching for your true love
Just come home, my love, to me

I`ll wait for you
I`ll wait for you
Until eternity

You don`t have to write or call me
Though I`ll miss you constantly
If you want my prayers all answered
Just come home, my love, to me

If you want my prayers all answered
Just come home
My love
To me

Glad to be of help. Cheers........Mel.

Expertise

I have been hooked on Country music since first hearing Jim Reeves in the late 50s. Two of the greatest nights of my life were seeing The Mavericks and Reba McEntire live in London. I am more at home with traditional Country music, but am happy to try and help with any questions relating to songs up to 2000. Please note that I DO NOT have the same knowledge about country music videos or singers private lives.
