About Beth Burgess
Expertise
I can answer just about any question about lyrics or the artists who recorded the songs--80s and 90s country especially. I don't watch many new videos, but the older the video question, the more likely I am to be able to answer it.

Experience
I've been a country music fan for all of my 25 years! I somehow have a knack for being able to remember all the words to all the songs (and who sang them for the most part) even though I can't carry a tune to save my life!

Education/Credentials
I'm currently enrolled in law school (so if I can't remember an answer off the top of my head, I have excellent research skills!)

Country Music - Artist and Song Title from 80's

Expert: Beth Burgess - 10/21/2009

Question
Hi. I wanted to know the name of the artist and song with these lyrics: "It's been a long, long time and I feel fine". Can you help? Thanks

Answer
Hi Elizabeth!  I think the song you're looking for is Willie Nelson's "Funny How Time Slips Away," which was released in 1984.  I've included the lyrics below and a link to a live performance of the song.  Hope this helps!

Willie Nelson - "Funny How Time Slips Away"

Well hello there
My it's been a long long time
How am I doin'
Oh I guess that I'm doin' fine
It's been so long now
But it seems now
It was only yesterday
Gee ain't it funny how time slips away

How's your new love
I hope that he's doin' fine
I heard you told him that
You'd love him till the end of time
Now that's the same thing that you told me
Seems like just the other day
Gee ain't it funny how time slips away

I gotta go now
I guess I'll see you around
Don't know when though
Never know when I'll be back in town
But remember what I tell you
In time you're gonna pay
And it's surprising how time slips away
