About Beth Burgess
Expertise
I can answer just about any question about lyrics or the artists who recorded the songs--80s and 90s country especially. I don't watch many new videos, but the older the video question, the more likely I am to be able to answer it.

Experience
I've been a country music fan for all of my 25 years! I somehow have a knack for being able to remember all the words to all the songs (and who sang them for the most part) even though I can't carry a tune to save my life!

Education/Credentials
I'm currently enrolled in law school (so if I can't remember an answer off the top of my head, I have excellent research skills!)

Country Music - I Need Help - 70's Country Song

Expert: Beth Burgess - 10/5/2009

Question
In the mid to late 70's there was a country song that came out by a group called "the ETC Band." Or at least that's what the DJ said.  I am pretty sure that Earl Thomas Conley was the lead singer.  This was before he started with his solo success.  It was a catchy little tune and had something to do with being "stranded on a dead end street" or "wrong way on a one way street." Something about a street and not going the way your supposed to go.  I only heard this song once or twice but it is haunting me to this day.  I was just a kid then but I would love to know the name of that song and possibly even find a recording of it.  Can you help me?

Answer
Hi Troy!  The song you're looking for is "Stranded on a Dead-End Street." Earl Thomas Conley recorded it in 1980, and you're right, it was recorded as being by "The ETC Band."  This song appears on the album "Blue Pearl."  I did a little searching to see if I could find the album for you.  (I typically buy music at Amazon.com, but that doesn't mean you should take that as my endorsement or anything...it's just an easy place to start your search.)  Here's what I came up with:

It's available on vinyl at these links:
http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Pearl-VINYL-Thomas-Conley/dp/B0011TRNIG/ref=sr_1_1?ie...

It's available on cassette at this link:
http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Pearl-Earl-Thomas-Conley/dp/B000Q23ZA4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=...

Hope this helps!
