AboutBeth Burgess Expertise I can answer just about any question about lyrics or the artists who recorded the songs--80s and 90s country especially. I don't watch many new videos, but the older the video question, the more likely I am to be able to answer it.
Experience I've been a country music fan for all of my 25 years! I somehow have a knack for being able to remember all the words to all the songs (and who sang them for the most part) even though I can't carry a tune to save my life!
Education/Credentials I'm currently enrolled in law school (so if I can't remember an answer off the top of my head, I have excellent research skills!)
Question I am trying to find a song by a female artist. The only part I can remember is her singing about how he used to call to tell her he was on his way home. Then she says if this is how it's going to be then she is done or gone. Can you help??? It's not a new song... not old but not new
Answer Hi Laura! The song that immediately came to mind was Kenny Chesney's "I Lost It." Now I know that Kenny is not a female artist, but the lyrics do match up. In the second verse the song says "I came home late, she said where've ya been...You used to call and tell me you're on your way...She said if this is how it's gonna be, then I quit..." And once I got this line stuck in my head, I really couldn't think of another song that says the same thing. Anyway, I've included the lyrics for you below and a link to the video so you can listen. Hope this helps!

I had a hundred dollar ring in my hand
So weak and tired i could barely stand
From being up all night, prayin' she'd say yes
So with a hopeful heart i hit one knee
With a tear in her eye she looked at me
It was the moment of truth, i was scared to death
My life hung on what that tear meant
Then she smiled at me
And I lost it
No one can make me cry
Make me laugh
Make me smile
Or drive me mad like she does
It's like a curse that is the cure
Better or worse, one thing's for sure
It's real love and I don't know what I'd do
If I lost it
Well the honeymoon ended and life began
Jobs and bills, losing touch with friends
And that apartment got smaller every day
Then one night the walls finally closed in
I came home late, she said where've ya been
You used to call and tell me you're on your way
She said if this is how it's gonna be, then I quit
She walked out the door
I lost it
No one can make me cry
Make me laugh
Make me smile
Or drive me mad like she does
It's like a curse that is the cure
Better or worse, one thing's for sure
It's real love and I don't know what I'd do
If I lost it
I picked myself up off the floor
She walked back through the door
And we made love like it was the first time
No one can make me cry
Make me laugh
Make me smile
Or drive me mad like she does
It's like a curse that is the cure
Better or worse, one thing's for sure
It's real love and I don't know what I'd do
If I lost it
