I’ve been trying to find a song and the only thing I can remember about it is it was a male artist who sings about a guy that gets out of jail he goes down to a dinner one night meets a waitress and they fall in love. they start stealing money and one night he gets caught and goes to jail and she ends up living in another state.
The last time I heard this song was 2003-2004, if you have any idea who the singer is and the song that would be helpful. My email address is  and again thank you for your time.

Hi Kris!  I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but the first song that came to mind when I read your question was Robert Earl Keen's "The Road Goes On Forever."  I've included the lyrics for you below.  Hope this helps!
