Question
Hey! I'm looking for this new country song I heard on the radio the other day. I don't know who sings it or the song title. The only thing I know is at the end of the song they say "I was the quarterback of my high school and I married my homecoming queen". PLEASE help. I have looked all over for this song. Thank you

Answer
Jason Michael Carooll / Where I’m From lyrics

And on a 3 hour flight from Memphis to LA
I was silently celebrating my first class upgrade
Laughing at my jeans and my boots
Beside those high dollar shoes and Armani suit
When the gentleman next to me said the drinks up here are free
So if you'd like the first one can be on me
He said I'm headed back from business in New York and Rome
Tell me son where do you call home?

Chorus

I said I'm from the front pew of a wooden white church
A courthouse clock that still don't work
Where a man's word means everything
Where mom dads were high school flames
Gave their children Grandmother's maiden name
Yes it may not sound like much but it's where I'm from.

So we drank that round
And then another
There wasn't a topic in this world we did not cover
He said I headed out West when I was barely 19
Just a kid chasin' my dreams
And I said I'm flying out here to pick up my big brother
He's been fighting the cancer they discovered
But he called last night and said I think this is the end
So come take me home to my family and my friends

Chorus 2

Where the quarterback dates the homecoming queen
The trucks are Ford and tractor's green
And Amazing Grace is what we sing
Where there's a county fair every fall
And your friends are there no matter when you call
It may not sound like much
But it's where I'm from.

And as we stood to claimed the bags we checked
He said I'll pray for your brother And did I mention that
Italian suits haven't always been my style
See I was the quarterback of my high school team
We took state back in '63
And my wife
Well she's still my homecoming queen

Chorus

Cause I'm from the front pew of a wooden white church
A courthouse clock that still don't work
Where a man's word means everything
Where mom & dads were high school flames
And gave their children grandmother's maiden name
Yes it may not sound like much
I said it may not sound like much
But its where I'm from......

("Amazing Grace" sung in background)
It's where I'm from
It's where I'm from

I can usually locate song by artist, excerpts and even circa around when the song was released in country, rock and other genres. ****** PLEASE do not ask me about videos. I do not watch them.******** I've been singing since I started talking, singing in public since I was 7. Still at it at 56. I have an extensive repertoire as well as lots of music. I also actively research for other people, including local djs, music that no one else can find, especially being given just paraphrased lines of songs. I'm the one @ karaoke that usually gets asked, "Who did this song?" or "Do you know a song that goes" and if it's country, I usually can name the song and artist, sometimes give within a couple of years the year of release. I've got a lot of lyrics in my database, as well as friends with working musicians who do open mic jams who have even more extensive databases than I do.

Experience

I've been singing almost 50 years (next year will be anniversary). I've played in bands (country/country crossover, rock and roll and bluegrass). I've worked sound for quite a few folks whose names are easily recognizable. I've got an extensive database of music, not just country. I've
