Country Music/Who sings "Lila"

Question
Who sings the song "Lila?"  The lyrics go...Lila, may not be your name, Lila, I'm gonna call you just the same.  You're just like my Lila, you've been with many men, underneath your glimpse of life, I'm gonna make her live again.
When she came to the city, she learned so many things, she learned to drink, smoke and cuse, flying without wings.

Answer
Hello Guy,

"Lila" was a hit for Doyle Holly in 1973. Holly was an important member of Buck Owens' band, The Buckaroos, during its heyday in the '60s, leaving in 1971 to pursue a solo career. He died in 2007.

Glad to be of help. Cheers........Mel.

Expertise

I have been hooked on Country music since first hearing Jim Reeves in the late 50s. Two of the greatest nights of my life were seeing The Mavericks and Reba McEntire live in London. I am more at home with traditional Country music, but am happy to try and help with any questions relating to songs up to 2000. Please note that I DO NOT have the same knowledge about country music videos or singers private lives.

Ex-record merchandiser with an extensive personal record/cd collection containing everything from Jim Reeves to Dwight Yoakam.
