Answer
Hello Diane,

Well, I'm no expert on voodoo and the like, but, as I understand it, a "mojo" is a type of magic charm. It would be kept in a bag, often of red flannel cloth tied with a drawstring. The mojo bag would usually contain a mix of herbs, powders, personal concerns such as a hair or fingernail clippings, sometimes a coin or dice, a petition paper or prayer, and other objects thought to promote supernatural action or protection.

Now, Marie Leveau, was a famous practitioner of the magic arts in 19th century New Orleans, and (according to the song) one of the items she carried in her mojo bag to help create her spells was a bone, or maybe even bones.

Glad to be of help. Cheers........Mel.

Expertise

I have been hooked on Country music since first hearing Jim Reeves in the late 50s. Two of the greatest nights of my life were seeing The Mavericks and Reba McEntire live in London. I am more at home with traditional Country music, but am happy to try and help with any questions relating to songs up to 2000. Please note that I DO NOT have the same knowledge about country music videos or singers private lives.
